We follow an agile methodology for project management, allowing us to be adaptable to changes and to get buy in and sign off quickly throughout the development lifecycle.
Our stand-ups are all done asynchronously - allowing people to check in at a time that works for them without having to stand in line and wait their turn. This is done in a slack channel called #engineering-standup which is reserved only for this purpose. In each stand up let people know:
This is a weekly event that lasts about an hour, where we all meet on a zoom call and don’t discuss work. This is social and allows us to bond as a remote team by playing games, discussing things that we enjoy and having a general chat.
This is a fortnightly/weekly forum where we discuss how we could be working together better, but also a stage for people to open the floor for discussions on tech adoption. Stand up and talk about what you are playing with in your spare time, maybe give a live demo of a pet project you are building.
